Alexis Ohanian, 33, is the co-founder of Reddit and the fiancee of Tennis superstar Serena Williams. The pair have been dating since 2015 and just announced that they are pregnant with their first child (Mazel Tov).
Here’s what you need to know about Ohanian.
The guy’s personal credo is “making the world suck less,” according to his website. We can get behind that.
According to Ohanian’s website, he spends most of his time investing in startups, being a fan of the Washington Redskins (same…unfortunately) and chilling with his cat, Karma. Check out his random act of kindness:
Ohanian hales from Brooklyn and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2005 with degrees in history and commerce, per his LinkedIn page. In that same year, he helped co-found the website Reddit with his college buddy Steve Huffman.
Though he may be wifed up to Williams, Ohanian was never much of a tennis fan before they started going at it. But over the last two years, he’s been a regular at Wimbledon and other big tournaments showing support for the lady. Respect.
Here’s a fun fact: Ohanian is a best selling author thanks to his book Without Their Permission: How the 21st Century Will Be Made, Not Managed. Check out what he had to say about the Internet in his final chapter:
We’ll continue to triumph over misinformation, despite the best efforts of a few to stifle the freedom of the many. The onus is on all of us to educate each and every one of our elected officials. Should governments ever make the tragic decision that intellectual property is actual property and enforce strict penalties for blurring the distinction, most forms of online speech would become violations of IP law. Copying a digital file (such as a picture of a car) is not theft, because the original picture is still entirely intact; you just have two of them now. Stealing a car is theft, because the original car is not in the place it was before.
Though Williams may be the more famous and wealthier of the two, Ohanian is no slouch. He’s made Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list twice when he was 28 and 29. Clearly, they both wear the pants in this relationship.
Congrats to the lovely couple.
