THE school holidays are nearing, but all hardcore Disney fans are interested in is what’s going to happen in the summer of 2019.
Because theme park bosses have released their first detailed look at the two upcoming Star Wars-inspired lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, which are rumoured to have cost $1 billion (£769 million) each to build.
The team have shared new details about the new 14-acre sites in both Florida and California, which will feature themed shops and restaurants, as well as two main attractions.
The finer details of the new lands can all be seen in a 50-foot scale model of the parks, which was previewed at the D23 Expo – a Disney fan convention – last weekend.
The mini theme parks, which are currently under construction and set to open in 2019, will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.
The remote trading port, a collaboration between Disney and Star Wars, is a mysterious destination somewhere on the Outer Rim — lying on the edge of the Unknown Regions.
The village was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel.
Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers travelling between the frontier and uncharted space.
It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.
Unusual characters from across the galaxy have landed here, preferring the “no questions asked” environment, as well as easy access to exotic supplies and an abundant supply of ready rogues looking to join a crew for their next adventure.
