Run for the sun
Internet flight searches are up 25 per cent ahead of the holiday weekend – with European hotspots twice as popular as UK favourites
BRITS are favouring a dash to the sun instead of staycations this Easter.
Internet flight searches are up 25 per cent ahead of the holiday weekend – with Barcelona and other European hotspots twice as popular as UK favourites such as Newquay.
Other popular searches include Brussels, Amsterdam and Bordeaux.
While Newquay is the most popular search on home soil, it only ranks ninth on the list of top searches.
Londoners are most desperate to get away over the Easter break, with 63 per cent more of the city’s residents keen to flee the capital compared to other weeks of the year. The research from travel search engine Gopili found that Yorkshire is the least appealing region for Brits scouring the web for trips this Easter.
Searches for Hull – the UK’s 2017 City of Culture – are down 19 per cent, while Doncaster dropped 18 per cent and Leeds ten per cent.
