LOVE IT OR LOATHE IT?
Brits just can’t be without the stuff…
WE LOVE a good holiday. A relaxing week on the beach with nothing but sun, sea and sand to fill our days.
But us Brits also love our home comforts and plenty of us like to pack our favourite tea bags and hobnobs for the trip.
There is however something else that we struggle to jet off without – and plenty of us feel so passionately about it that we’re willing to try and smuggle it on the plane.
It appears Marmite is our “can’t do without food” while we’re abroad.
London City Airport has revealed that the salty spread is the “most-seized” item at the airport.
On average security at the airport confiscate four tubs of the stuff from people’s hand luggage per day.
Given that the liquid allowance is 100ml it is understandable that the 250g pots aren’t welcome as carry on.
But don’t worry about the discarded spread – the seized spread is donated to charity.
It appears we are all going Marmite mad! Earlier this year Marmite-flavoured Easter eggs sold out and were listed on eBay for three times the price.
