Facebook-owned WhatsApp today announced the launch of three new features for iOS users. These features are aimed at improving the visual experience and focus on leveraging the handset’s camera to enable more effective content sharing between users. WhatsApp has now added albums, filters, and reply shortcut for iPhone users.
When users send or receive a collection of four or more photos or videos now, the content will automatically be grouped together as an album which will create a tile display within messages. When users tab on the album, they will see the collection of photos and videos in full screen.
Filters enable users to add effects to their photos, videos, and GIFs from within the WhatsApp camera. They can capture or select the media that’s already on their device’s and swipe up to pick a filter. There are five filters available right now including pop, black and white, cool, chrome, and film.
The reply shortcut feature makes it even easier to send a reply to a message. Users can just swipe right on any message and start typing their response. It’s quick and easy.
All of these features are now live on WhatsApp for iOS, users can update the app to get access to them. It’s unclear when they will arrive on WhatsApp for Android. The company hasn’t said as yet when it’s going to bring these features to Android.
