HOYDE DO YOU DO?
The feisty fire dancer won 2016’s Love Island but what else is there to know about Cara?
CARA De La Hoyde is preparing for life as a single mum after splitting from her boyfriend Nathan Massey shortly after finding out she was pregnant.
While the Love Island 2016 winners looked like the perfect couple, there was more to Cara and Nathan’s relationship than met the eye. Here’s what we know about her…
Who is Cara De La Hoyde?
Cara is a 26-year-old Essex girl who shot to fame after her appearance on Love Island 2016.
Ahead of her time on the show, Cara was a glamour model who posed in a series of adult magazines and worked on x-rated channel Studio 66.
The star has always been open about her past, and said: “It was good, I used to enjoy it, I did it for about two years and started when I was 23. When I was younger it was amazing money.”
She had previously admitted that she wanted to pursue a career as a midwife before finding her more raunchy profession.
As well as this, she was also a circus performer for Cirque Le Soir, and would travel the world performing aerial hoop work and routines involving fire and snakes.
What happened between Cara and Nathan Massey?
Cara was crowned the winner of Love Island 2016 alongside boyfriend Nathan Massey.
She paired up with Nathan in the first episode and the unshakeable couple stayed together till the end.
They moved in together soon after, and even appeared as guest stars in The Only Way Is Essex.
However, despite being considered the perfect couple by their fans, the pair soon started having fights.
It eventually forced them to live apart and in April they called it quits completely in an “amicable split”.
A source told The Sun: “They’ve both mutually agreed to call it quits. It hasn’t been an easy decision but in the end they decided things would be better apart.
“They stayed really amicable and will definitely do all they can to be friendly.”
When did Cara find out she was pregnant?
It was announced on May 15 that Cara was expecting her first child with Nathan.
Cara had found out shortly before the break-up she was pregnant, but kept it quiet from the public initially.
However, she said despite their upcoming arrival, there were no plans to patch things up with Nathan.
The former Towie star told OK! magazine: “It’s a shame and a sad situation.
“I know a lot of people will think, well you’re going to have a baby together so just stay together – but we’re not going to do that just to look like the perfect couple.”
Speaking on This Morning in June about the pregnancy, she said: “We are really good, we’re constantly in contact, he knows everything that he needs to know…He was very shocked, just the same as I was, and we tried to make it work, but sometimes it’s better for the baby not to be in that volatile relationship.”
What else has Cara been up to besides Love Island?
Following a successful appearance as a guest star, The Sun revealed she is being lined up to become a full time cast member on Towie.
A source close to the star said: “Cara is expected to sign on the dotted line – she has got lots to say and Towie bosses know that fans are really interested in her relationship with Nathan and their split.
“They know how popular Cara is because of her huge social media following and there will be lots of mileage in her as a full-time cast member.”
She has also admitted to wanting to go back to Love Island after her break-up with Nathan.
Cara also starred alongside Zara Holland and Nathan in early 2016 on ITV2 high intensity game show Release The Hounds: Famous and Freaked.
They competed in a series of weird and wacky challenges with the aim of the game to win as much money as possible for their chosen charity.
